So, anyone who chooses to read this, may wonder why would a
self-declared introvert choose to write a blog. Well, you go a bit stir
crazy when you are 7 months pregnant and stay at home with your cat and
dog. You have a lot of time to think about the past, present and future;
And since my husband hates to hear me ramble on for hours after a long
day at work, I have chosen to blog.
I plan on being open and candid about all of the pleasant happenings
and not so pleasant happenings of life as a first-time mom, choosing a
profession, being a wife and the current ongoings of the world.
So, how did I get here? I’m almost 23 (on Friday!), married, soon-to-be mother and completely lost.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my life. Marrying my husband was by far
the best decision of life and I believe our son will only enhance our
marriage. But, at 22, there are people who are on similar life
trajectories and those whose course is so different than my own.
When I first began college 4 years ago, I had no idea I would be
where I am today. I was extremely fortunate and I was awarded the
Presidential Scholarship, a full academic scholarship. While I am not
saying I didn’t work extremely hard to get the scholarship, I was beyond
lucky as well. Due to my ridiculous perserverence, I finished my
Bachelor of Science in Psychology in three years. When I began, I had
all intentions of going for my PhD in Clinical Psychology. However,
once I met Adam, everything changed.
I was no longer solely focused on my academics and my professional
journey, but I was concerned about our future together. (More to that
later). Once we were married (again, more on that later), I decided to
pursue a Master’s in order to obtain a decent-paying job, but still stay
local. The Master’s was only to be a stepping stone, in order to reach
my ultimate goal of becoming a psychologist. However, once I was in
the program, I came to realize how little I wanted to work with the
general public. After much soul-searching, I decided to quite my
Master’s program after two semesters…and now, here I am.
While I raise our son, my goal is to pursue an MBA….here is to the next chapter in our lives!
